Three years ago, my daughter decided to become a vegetarian. As a supportive mother, I decided to join her. Shortly into our journey, we decided cutting out meat wasn’t enough—that’s what some people think when they hear the word vegetarian. Instead, we decided to go for the gold and give up meat, poultry, eggs and dairy. I’m hesitant to use the word “vegan” as it stirs up a lot of connotations, but that is the best definition of our diet.
Since this transition, people are usually interested in and sometimes critical of what we eat. For the first year, well-meaning friends and family peppered us with, “Can you eat this?” “Do you eat that?” Occasionally, I had people nearly snatch food out of my hand announcing, “YOU CAN’T EAT THAT.” My mother, known to serve a stick of butter as an appetizer, nearly had a nervous breakdown and still mutters every holiday about what she’s going to feed us.
Some concerned parties have asserted that we could get very sick from lack of protein and minerals. We haven’t. And along this journey, we’ve discovered many ways to get the right vitamins, minerals, and proteins from foods other than the usual suspects. Sometimes, it just takes a little more work.
When I started taking Florax DS, it was more for the digestive and immune health benefits, but a happy latent effect is that its active ingredient, brewer’s yeast, is a vegan dream. It is loaded with B vitamins, folic acid, chromium, zinc, selenium and biotin. So in addition to digestive and immune health, you can look forward to increased energy and metabolism, stronger hair and nails, and healthier skin to name a few. Literally every time I start researching for a Florax DS blog, I learn about a new benefit.
Here’s are the advantages I’ve discovered so far: digestive health, stronger immune system, potential weight loss, more energy, faster metabolism, improved hair and nails…are you ordering it yet? You should be ordering it.
